Criminal Codes Reform Project

  • In May 2020, in a new report, it was announced that a committee for criminal reform was to be constituted.

  • Considering the wide ranging impact a change in criminal laws would have, and the unrepresentative nature of the committee and the opacity in its functioning, LSC drafted the first student-led petition to oppose this manner of reform.

  • More than 600 people signed the petition across universities.

  • Apart from just opposing the reform, LSc also engaged substantively with the committee in the first round of consultations.

  • Currently, the committee is deliberating the responses received from various stakeholders.
